Sock Monkey Sugar Cookies and Fondant Toppers

I've always wanted to do a themed event.  I love baking, and as I can't eat it all, I need to share my creations with someone! As I was planning a baby shower for my sister-in-law's new baby boy I knew this would be the perfect opportunity.  Unfortunately with hosting, I did not have time to get good pictures of the sock monkey fondant toppers on the cupcakes.  So I was only able to get before pictures, sorry!

The sock monkeys are completely made out of fondant.  That way people can happily eat them if they choose.  Fondant toppers can be made a few weeks in advance.  Once created I put them in a container for a day or so before closing the lid.  The air helps them firm up to avoid falling apart later on.  I put the toppers on the cupcakes just as I set up the display.  If you put the toppers on the night before, or even hours before, the moisture of the cupcakes can make them melt and fall apart.

The sock monkey's were 'easy' to make, but time consuming.  Here is how I created them.

And now on to my favourite thing to make.  Sugar Cookies!  These were given out as favours and were a huge hit.  Sock Monkey cookie cutter was purchased Ecrandal. Amazing quality cutters made out of copper.

I had so much fun baking for this event!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

    1. Hmm... Not sure what you are referring to. The first picture is of the invitations I made. Maybe there's sort of ads I can't see.

      Sorry!
